Christ the Cornerstone, Part 1

Here is a 5-day Bible reading plan and devotional guide based on the themes from the sermon ‘Christ the Cornerstone, Part 1 from April 27th, 2025.

Day 1: The Cornerstone of Our Faith Reading: Psalm 118:19-29, Acts 4:1-12
Devotional: Jesus Christ, the cornerstone rejected by the builders, has become the foundation of our faith. Just as the religious leaders in Acts 4 struggled to accept Jesus, we too can sometimes find ourselves resistant to His authority in our lives.

Today, reflect on areas where you might be rejecting Christ’s leadership. Are there aspects of your life where you are trying to build without Him as the cornerstone? Remember, there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved. Let Christ be the foundation of every decision, relationship, and aspiration in your life.

Day 2: The Power of God’s Love in the Face of Opposition Reading: Romans 5:6-11, Acts 4:13-22
Devotional: Despite facing opposition and threats, Peter and John boldly proclaimed the gospel. Their courage stemmed from experiencing the transformational love of Christ. Paul reminds us in Romans that God demonstrated His love for us while we were still sinners. This overwhelming love empowers us to stand firm in our faith, even when faced with hostility or ridicule.

Today, meditate on God’s love for you. How can you let that love embolden you to share your faith, even in challenging circumstances?

Day 3: The Living Temple of God Reading: 1 Peter 2:4-10, 1 Corinthians 3:16-17
Devotional: As believers, we are living stones being built into a spiritual house. The image of Jesus as the cornerstone takes on new meaning when we realize that we are part of the structure God is building. His presence dwells, not in buildings made by human hands, but in the hearts of His people.

Consider today how you are allowing God to shape you and fit you into His spiritual house. Are there rough edges that need smoothing? Are you resisting being placed where God wants you to be? Embrace your role as a living stone in God’s temple.

Day 4: Salvation Through Christ Alone Reading: John 14:1-6, Ephesians 2:1-10
Devotional: The exclusivity of Christ for salvation can be a stumbling block for many. Yet, as believers, we find freedom and assurance in knowing that our salvation rests solely on Jesus’ finished work, not our own efforts.

Reflect on how simple and profound our salvation is because it is n Christ alone. How does this truth liberate you from the burden of trying to earn God’s favor? How can you share this good news with others who may be struggling under the weight of religious performance or spiritual uncertainty?

Day 5: The Indwelling Presence of God Reading: John 15:1-17, Galatians 2:20
Devotional: The ultimate goal of salvation is a restored relationship with God. Through Christ, we become the dwelling place of God’s Spirit. This intimate indwelling transforms us from the inside out. As we abide in Christ, like branches connected to the vine, His life flows through us, producing spiritual fruit.

Today focus on God’s presence within you. How does the reality of Christ living in you change your perspective on daily challenges? Let this truth inspire you to live in constant communion with the One who has made His home in your heart.
